Loch Eck Holiday Home

Stratheck Holiday Park

Directions from Glasgow

There are two ways to get to the caravan at Stratheck - by car - and both take approximately 80/90 minutes from Glasgow.

[1] From Glasgow City Centre follow the A82 westwards to Tarbet. Take the A83 at Tarbet through Arrochar and up the Rest and Be Thankful. Approx 1.5 miles [2ks] from Cairndow [Loch Fyne] take the A815 which is waymarked for Dunoon. Follow the A815 through Strachur and down the east shore of Loch Eck. Stratheck Holiday Park is well marked, just before the Ben More Gardens. [114ks, 71 miles]

[2] From Glasgow City Centre follow the M8 westwards to Greenock [the M8 becomes the A8 near Langbank]. Follow the A8 through Port Glasgow and Greenock and then follow the A770 from Greenock [signposted for Gourock and Cowal Ferries] through Fort Matilda and Gourock until you reach the ferry terminal at McInroy's Point. Western Ferries operates a basic car ferry service from here to Hunter's Quay, near Kirn on Cowal. When you leave the ferry at Hunter's Quay, turn right and follow the A815 through Arnadam and Sandbank and past the Holy Loch. Follow signs for Ben More Gardens until you reach Stratheck Holiday Park.[52ks, 36 miles].

NB The ferry crossing takes around 15/20 minutes and is a bit on the expensive side. http://www.western-ferries.co.uk/

Its also possible to reach the caravan by public transport. Take the Gourock train from Glasgow Central [High Level] www.scotrail.co.uk [journey time approx 50minutes] and get the ferry from Gourock Pier to Dunnon Pier. http://www.argyllferries.co.uk/[journey time approx 25 minutes] . From Dunoon [Argyll Street, town centre] take the bus number 484 [West Coast Motors Bus Services] http://www.westcoastmotors.co.uk/ and ask the driver to let you off at the entrance to Stratheck Holiday Park. [bus journey time approx 20 minutes].
